Lauer, Edith L. of DeKalb, IL, formerly of Springfield, IL, St. Charles, MO and Monroe, NY passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 following a brief illness. She was born May 20, 1934 in Springfield, IL. She received her B.A.
in Education from Quincy University and was an elementary school teacher throughout her career. She was the 2nd grade teacher at Sacred Heart School in Monroe until her retirement. She married Dr. Gerald J. Lauer on August 25, 1962.
He preceded her in death in 2007. She was also predeceased by her mother Bernetta Ochs Kolaz; father, Paul Kolaz; brothers George "Babe" Kolaz and Paul Kolaz, and her beloved sister Mary Elizabeth "Mimi" Bird. She is survived by her sons, Steven P. Lauer (Tracy) of Camillus, NY, Keith W. Lauer (Regan) of Coronado, CA; daughter, Leanne M.
VandeCreek (Drew) of DeKalb, IL; granddaughter Meaghan Lauer; grandsons Jonathan Lauer and Aidan VandeCreek; as well as her treasured nieces Patricia J. Bird and Georganne Bird Bredemeyer of Springfield, IL. Edith was a member of Christ the Teacher Parish in DeKalb, IL. Her faith was very important to her and she was a devout Catholic. She was also the best mother and friend anyone could ever hope for, and she loved her children and grandchildren very much.
Edith loved music and was an accomplished pianist and organist, and was the accompanist at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe, NY for over 20 years. Services: There will be no visitation. Ron loved basketball being both a player and a coach. He coached junior high basketball and high school basketball and football a number of years. Farr, Larry died peacefully on April 5, 2010 at the age of 53. Loving husband of Diane Farr; loving son of Mary (Robert Partell and the late Robert E. Thursday at Lord Funeral Home, 2900 Telegraph Rd. Graviss, Dr. Edward Richard pediatric radiologist at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, died surrounded by his family April 4 at the age of 67, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Graviss was born in Philadelphia, PA and received both his BS and MD from the University of Louisville.
He was an intern at Philadelphia General Hospital, and a resident and fellow in radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. He was a professor in the Department of Radiology and the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at St. Louis University as well as Professor of Radiology at University of Missouri-Kansas City. For a number of years, Dr. Graviss was the Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Cardinal Glennon.
Dr. Graviss was active in professional organizations, including The Radiological Society of North America, the International Congress of Radiology, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, the Missouri State Radiological Society, the American College of Radiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Roentgen Ray Society, and the Society for Pediatric Radiology. He was a board examiner for the American Board of Radiology and was responsible for over fifty publications and over 90 scientific presentations. Devoted to his family and profession, Dick was also an avid tennis player, active in the USTA and the West County Tennis Ladder.
A recent convert to scuba diving, Dick and his wife Joan traveled frequently to Roatan, Honduras where they own a home. He was also an accomplished skier, adventurous traveler, lover of fine wines, and enthusiastic gardener. Dr. Graviss is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan (nee Leeds), three children: Dr. Christopher Graviss (Beth), Jeannette Graviss (Chris Dornfeld) both of University City, and Melissa Graviss (Jim Farber) of San Francisco; five granddaughters: Margaret Lindsay Graviss, Madeline Graviss Dornfeld, Alexandra Graviss Dornfeld, Ella Rose Marie Graviss, and Lauren Elizabeth Graviss, all of University City; one sister: Julia Hatton of Orlando, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was surrounded by his loving daughter, Rose Mary Chadwick. He suffered from Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Chadwick (nee Postawko) of 60 years; a daughter, Rose Mary Chadwick of Collinsville, IL; a son, Ronald Chadwick of Collinsville, IL; his daughters, Melissa Chadwick of Carbondale, IL and Amanda Chadwick of Collinsville, IL; and daughter-in-law, Teresa M. Chadwick. He is preceded in death by his parents, William E.
Chadwick and Minnie Jane Chadwick (nee Trawick); a sister, Evelyn Coulter; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was born in Carlyle, TN on August 12, 1931 and moved to Granite City. He was a resident of Collinsville for 50 years. He graduated from Washington University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, retiring in 1994 from National Steel after 46 years of service. His last position was Chief Engineer.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Ron was a former director of the Maryville Y.M.C.A. and a member of the American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, IL and the Knights of Columbus Maryville Council 6625. His main interest was his church, the Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where he was a trustee for over 35 years. He was instrumental in the building of the church in 1992 along with Fr.
Jack Quilligan and Dan Dorris. He served on the Finance Committee, Lector, an extra ordinary minister, and taught PSR for a number of years. Services: Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2010, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL with a 2:30 Prayer Service.
